Executive Director Education & Social Care
Following interviews by the full Council today, Hazel Sutherland has been appointed as Executive Director Education and Social Care and will take over from Mr Brian Doughty who will leave his interim position over the summer.
Hazel comes from Whalsay and started her career with Shetland Islands Council in 1991 as a trainee accountant. Following eight years with the finance department latterly as group accountant, Hazel became in charge of policy development in the Council in 1999. She was appointed General Manager of Shetland Charitable Trust in 2002.
Note:
The Executive Director of Education and Social Care line manages the Council's Community Care, Children’s, Schools, Lifelong Learning and Criminal Justice Services. The position carries an annual salary range £66,873 to £78,045.
