Schiehallion Contract Extended to 2010
The Council today welcomed confirmation from BP that the Schiehallion Field Operators have extended the existing contract on delivering Oil to Sullom Voe.
A 5-year contract was won in a competitive tender exercise in 2003 by Sullom Voe Terminal in partnership with the Councils Ports and Harbours Operations.
Commenting on this Council Convener Sandy Cluness stated that this was ‘very good news for Shetland in that Schiehallion contributes such a large proportion of the business at the Port and clearly indicates to us that the considerable efforts made over recent years to improve efficiencies mainly through combining towage and pilotage operations have paid off’.
Alastair Cooper, Chair of Ports & Harbours said ‘he was delighted with this news giving the port stability over the next few years and enabling all efforts to be brought to bear on finding new business opportunities for Sullom in the future which were currently looking bright’
Neil McCracken, Sullom Voe Terminal Manager confirmed that Schiehallion Operator has exercised the option to extend the current Schiehallion SVT Storage and Redelivery Agreement on existing terms for two further years. As a result the business is now secure to 30 September 2010.
BP, on behalf of the Sullom Voe Terminal owners said: "This extension is a reflection on the high level and quality of service provided to the Schiehallion business by SVT"
