Celebrate International Shetland
Every year, Adult Learning takes part in Adult Learners’ Week events. This year Adult Learners Week runs from 17 – 23 May and coincides with International Cultural Diversity Day. Shetland is becoming increasingly multicultural. Last year there were 233 enrolments for English Classes for Speakers of Other Languages. This year Adult Learning has taken International Shetland as its theme.
The Service is planning a range of workshops, talks, demonstrations and events to celebrate International Shetland and to promote learning. The programme is designed to
- Raise awareness and understanding between cultures
- Celebrate the similarities and differences between cultures
- Encourage community cohesion
- Celebrate diversity
Adult Learning is keen to hear from anyone who could share a skill, give a talk or from organisations that would like to put on an event to celebrate International Shetland. Contact Nati or Roselyn at Adult Learning on 01595 743888 for more information.
