Shetland's National Prizewinning Mobile Library
Shetland Library’s Mobiles have just scooped the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professional’s President’s Shield for Best Small Mobile Library in the UK. Mobile Library Assistants Elizabeth Robetson and Annette Shewan were attending the ‘Mobilemeet’ at Aintree in Liverpool, alongside over 50 other Mobile Library Services.
Ian Stringer of CILIP said that the award reflects not just on the physical build of the vehicle but the whole concept of the service and its emphasis on social inclusion. “Your staff gave us a vivid account of life on Shetland and this was one of the main reasons for giving the award.”
