Shetland Real Nappy Week
The Shetland Islands Council’s Waste Services will be taking part in the 10th nation-wide Real Nappy Week, running from the 24th-30th April.
As part of this, there will be a real nappy road show touring round the isles from Monday to Friday (see attached file for dates and venues). This will be a chance for people to come along and ask questions about real nappy use and see some examples of the different types of nappy available. There will also be a chance to enter a free prize draw, with prizes donated by Helen Perry (Local nappy retailer), Andersons and Co., www.totsbots.com, www.snazzypants.co.uk and www.nappiesbyminki.co.uk.
Real nappies are no longer about folds and soaking, they now come in a range of easy to use shapes, can be fixed with Velcro or poppers and no longer require soaking. There is a large and varied range of different coloured and patterned nappies out there.
The SIC have been encouraging the use of real nappies for years and run a scheme offering money back to parents who use these instead of disposables. For information on real nappy week check out http://www.wen.org.uk/rnw/index.htm and for information on real nappies in Shetland, check out Shetland Real Nappy website at http://www.shetlandrealnappies.org and come along to the show.
