Press Release
Harbour Operations
At the Harbour Board on 26 August 2009, the issue of recent coverage by the Shetland Times of the review of Harbour Operations was discussed. The Board deplored the way the media handled the sensitive staffing issue and the misinformation presented by unnamed sources.
As a Board we support the efforts of the Executive Director, Head of Ports and Harbours and staff to achieve the economies for Sullom Voe that are required to be put in place to develop a workforce that will take us into the next 30 years of the port.
We recognise that there is considerable concern amongst staff. The Board have asked the Executive Team to particularly address the concerns of staff over the next seven weeks.
The Board agreed that assurance should be given that due process and consultation would be followed and that staff would be fully engaged.
