Shetland Youth Voice Elections 2012
Applications are now open for young people aged 12 – 25 to stand as a candidate for Shetland Youth Voice in the 2012 election.
Shetland Youth Voice is undergoing a restructure this year aiming to become a stronger and more inclusive group that empowers young people by involving them in the decision-making processes in Shetland.
This year Shetland Youth Voice set up and elections will mirror the system the SIC councillors go through and there will be the same number of Shetland Youth Voice members as SIC Councillors in each electoral ward in Shetland.
The representatives are still to be aged between 12-25 years of age and we are hoping to have a wide selection of young people both in school, further education, those left school and in employment. This will aim at making Shetland Youth Voice a more democratic organisation by including a wide variety of young people from all over Shetland and give young people a better platform to get their views and opinions to the decision makers within Shetland.
In this time of changes to local authority services, it is important for young people to get involved in the decision making processes and get their views heard on these important issues.
If you are a young person, aged 12 – 25, and have a passion for getting young people’s opinions heard in Shetland then register to stand as a candidate for Shetland Youth Voice!
The elections are to be held from Monday 27 August to Friday 31 August 2012.
