Local Data & Research
Local data sources are categorised by the strategic objectives set out in the Single Outcome Agreement for the SIC. These are Wealthier, Fairer, Healthier, Safer, Stronger, Smarter and Greener.
The role of the lead officer is to:
- assist in the use of national systems and be aware of current analysis at a local level;
- be responsible for keeping up-to-dat information in their area, including statistics, consultation and national research; and
- assist others in their data requirements.
General info can be found in Shetland in Statistics.
Each lead officer now has access to a corporate Geographic Information System (GIS) through support from John Carolan, Technical/Ordnance Survey Liaison Officer. This system allows a wide range of local data to be displayed in a spatial context, where relationships can be found between statistical information and geographical locations. Contact John Carolan at john.carolan@shetland.gov.uk or tel: (01595) 744847 for info.
