What are the equality target groups?

The equal opportunity agenda in Shetland is being addressed under Schedule 5 of the Scotland Act 1998. As 'the prevention, elimination or regulation of discrimination between persons on the grounds of sex or marital status, on racial grounds or on grounds of disability, age, sexual orientation, language or social origin or of other personal attributes, including beliefs or opinions, such as religious beliefs or political beliefs'.

Therefore equality target groups can be defined by:

- Gender

- Marital Status

- Race

- Language/ Social Origin

- Disability

- Age

- Sexuality, and

- Faith
