Additional Forms - November 2010

In order to produce a more efficient and quicker response, new forms have been introduced.  At present it is expected that Social Work will continue to use the comprehensive assessment.

The streamlined form is designed for use alongside the guidance leaflet. Practitioners can use the My World triangle to identify the areas of need that require a response.  These new forms can be found in the “Additional Forms” section below.

Please note; in order to print the guidance leaflet as a leaflet, you will need to find the appropriate option when printing.  Not all printers may have this option, in which case just print it as an A4 document.

What is Getting it right for every child (GIRFEC)?

Getting it right for every child is a new approach that aims to improve outcomes for all children and young people.

“Getting it right for every child” puts the wellbeing of children and young people at the centre.  A common coordinated framework for assessment, planning and action across all agencies is used to address needs.  Getting it right for every child recognises that children have the right to be consulted about decisions that affect them.

It promotes a shared approach that:

  • Builds solutions with and around children and families
  • Enables children to get the help they need when they need it
  • Supports a positive shift in culture, systems and practice
  • Involves working together to make things better

Getting it right for every child is the foundation for work with all children and young people, including adult services where parents are involved.

Getting it right for every child in Shetland was previously known as the “Integrated Assessment Framework”, or IAF.  Getting it right for every child is a national programme that is being designed by the Scottish Government and put into practice locally.
