Montfield Hospital

Montfield Hospital is a Care of the Elderly Hospital situated in Burgh Road, Lerwick. There are 2 wards catering for 40 people. The wards are named Vaila and Ronas.

In Vaila Ward there is a self-contained unit of 4 beds for Young Physically Disabled people. Whilst the in-patient wards accommodate male and female patients, care is delivered in single sex bays. There is also a Day Hospital supporting 15 people on a daily basis, Monday to Friday.

The emphasis is on the provision of health care for elderly people who require 24 hour continuing care.

Patients are admitted following a single shared assessment involving patient, carers and multi-organisational professionals.

Prior to admission patients' relatives and carers are invited to visit Montfield Hospital to meet with staff.

They offer specialist residential care for very frail older people on a permanent basis. 16 permanent places.

16 permanent places, 4 respite care places and 10 places per day for day care. 7 days a week - also evenings.
