Summer Holiday Activities Programme
Shetland is a fantastic place to be during the summer holidays for young people with over two hundred activities, events and excursions happening across the length and breadth of the islands. Amongst many other things, young people have the opportunity to celebrate Shetland’s natural heritage and geological beauty, to experience ‘Get Wet’ adventures around the coast of Shetland, to be part of a Dance camp for a week or to take part in some Football Coaching mornings and afternoons. There were some new activities for 2011 which proved very popular, these included: Golf, Mountain Biking and Rugby.
With something on almost every day of the summer holidays, and something for all ages, Sport and Leisure are keen that as many young people as possible take advantage of these opportunities and experience the diverse and exciting sport, physical activity and cultural events in the holiday programme.
Partners in the 2011 summer holiday programme were: Active Schools, Sports Development, Outdoor Education,
Youth Services, Bruce Family Centre, Shetland Museum and Archives, Shetland Library, Shetland Nature Festival, Shetland Recreational Trust and others.
