Business Inspections
Why do we inspect businesses?
Trading Standards staff conduct regular inspections to ensure that all goods and services offered for sale are:
- safe,
- correctly priced,
- accurately described, and
- weighed or measured accurately.
When do we inspect businesses?
As inspections need to represent a real situation, they are usually carried out without prior notice.
Businesses are targeted to be inspected annually, every two years or every five years, depending on our assessment of the risk to consumers of non-compliance.
