Young Scot Shetland

The team has two InfoMobile trailers which are mobile information units that can be set up anywhere giving young people information they want and need. They can provide general information on Young Scot as well as specific information when requested by the local council.

The InfoMobiles have a plasma screen which can be used for rolling presentations and DVD playing as well as to demonstrate Young Scot's online services - including the portal, Young Scot's social networking sites and Young Scot WOW.

The team enagaged with about 20,000 young people in the last year and cover an average of 20,000 miles (the distance from Edinburgh to Australia and back again!)

The Outreach Team visit school and youth centres, running sessions on topics relevant to young people, as well as shopping centres, theme parks, music festivals and other public events.

As well as providing access to technology, it's also about informing, inspiring, challenging and listening to young people in their own environment.

The team were recently up in Shetland for the 'Fit for the Future' Youth Voice Conference at Clickimin Leisure Complex on Friday 3rd July 2009. In addition they were doing 'street work' on Commercial Street on Saturday 4th July.
