Crown Estate Fund – Grant Aid Scheme
This grant aid scheme is financed from net revenues generated by Crown Estate assets in Scotlland.
It is a pilot scheme designed to mobilise change and deliver positive outcomes for Shetland and its communities, by supporting projects which invest in infrastructure, build community capacity and develop community assets.
The scheme is open to charities, community organisations, social enterprises and other community or public bodies to apply to, and can provide grants of between £10,000 and £100,000 to projects which deliver on the priorities of the Shetland Partnership Plan (PDF, 3.3.Mb).
The scheme has a two-stage application process, if successful through the first stage applicants will be invited to start the stage 2 process.
Project applications will be assessed by a Panel, chaired by the Director of Development, and one additional officer from each Council Directorate, nominated by the relevant Director. The Panel will consider and determine all requests for approval below £50,000. For funding requests of £50,000 or more, the Panel recommendation will be presented to Shetland Islands Council for decision.
The Crown Estate panel will meet approximately 4 times a year. Applications may be submitted at any time, however please note that stage one applications must be received at least two weeks before a panel meeting. Stage two applications must be received at least eight weeks before a panel meeting. When considering project start dates, applicants should take account of timescales of panel meetings at which applications will be considered and also, where appropriate, by Shetland Islands Council.
