Young People

All Bookbug sessions are cancelled until further notice: due to the current closure of libraries and schools, there will be no more live Bookbug sessions until further notice.

We are, however, doing our best to keep everyone updated with what’s available on-line, and will aim to keep you informed of upcoming storytimes and other on-line events.

The Christmas Bookbug session can be viewed on the library Facebook page at 10.30am on Friday 11 December.

Bookbug is the government's book gifting programme for the under fives.  Shetland Library, in partnership with NHS Shetland, provides four stages of packs to encourage a love of books and reading.

Bookbug - Scottish Book Trust

  • Packs 1 and 2 can be collected from your Health Visitor at 7 week and 18 month checks, or from the Library.

  • Pack 3 is gifted to children in their early years setting for every 3 year old.

  • Pack 4 is gifted to every primary one pupil each November

Why not have your own Bookbug session at home with your little ones?

Scottish Booktrust have put together an on-line session using songs from the Bookbug App and a book from the Bookbug pack.

A new session will be posted each Monday.
