Support for businesses – COVID-19 Discretionary Fund

Coins

The Shetland Islands COVID-19 Discretionary Fund aims to provide a one-off £2,000 grant to local businesses experiencing immediate financial challenges from COVID-19 restrictions and regulations.

The fund is aimed specifically at businesses that have been without financial support since October 2020 following the adoption of Scotland’s Strategic Framework.

This Fund will aim to support:

  • businesses that supply goods or services to those who have been closed or restricted under COVID-19 protection measures;
  • businesses that are facing hardship as a consequence of the current restrictions, but are not eligible for support schemes introduced since October 2020;
  • businesses who do not have premises which are registered for non-domestic rates, and are therefore ineligible for grants attached to the rates system.

The grant is open to all business types, e.g. Ltd Companies, Sole Traders, Trust and Partnerships.  Businesses will be required to provide evidence of reduced income due to COVID-19, and meet all other eligibility criteria.
