If your household is effected by COVID-19 or a member has at least one of the NHS specified symptoms please take the following steps:
Place all contaminated items produced, including tissues, cleaning cloths, wipes and masks in a plastic bag. Tie the bag securely to ensure all materials are safely contained
Put the bag inside another bag and tie the top of the bag
Keep the double bagged waste for 72 hours in a place that cannot be accessed by other people or pets
After the 72 hour period has passed put the bag(s) in your non-recyclable (individual or communal) waste bin or bruck box for collection by the crew. Where possible please do not put the bag on the kerbside where members of the public could come in contact with it
If you have an assisted collection, bag waste as described above, and put it out at your usual assisted collection point
Other household waste can be disposed of normally and please do not put recycling in plastic bags.
Emptying of glass bring sites is operating at a reduced service.
We advise to only use the bottle banks when absolutely necessary.
Please do not leave glass outside of glass banks/bins. If a site is full please contact us.
Bulky waste collections were reinstated from June 1 2020. If you need to book a collection, phone the Cleansing Service on 01595 744891.
If your household is effected by COVID-19, or a member has at least one of the NHS specified symptoms prior to your booked bulky uplift, please inform the Cleansing Service as soon as possible.
Your collection may be rescheduled.
Service is operating as normal, but could be subject to change as per Household Collections.
If your business has suspended trading or you would like to make changes to your waste and recycling collections please email us.
Glass collections operating at a limited service.
Operating as normal for business customers. Before visiting the Plant please consider if your trip is necessary at this time.
New safety procedures are in effect at the weighbridge:
Wipes are available in the weighbridge hut, which drivers should use when weighing in and out
Anyone who does not have a weighbridge card should not visit the Plant until further notice
The Gremista Waste Management Facility reopened to the public on June 1 2020.
The site is now operating to normal winter opening hours:
Monday to Friday: 8am-6pm (last entry at 5.45pm).
Saturday and Sunday: 10am-4pm (last entry at 3.45pm)
The following rules are now in place on site:
- only visit if absolutely necessary
- only 1 person per vehicle
- only bring what you can lift yourself
- height restriction bar is now in place, no vehicles over 2.2 meters
- adhere to physical distancing guidance (2 meters)
- follow all instructions on site
Service is operating as normal, but could be subject to change.
Staff shortages could lead to one of the following alternatives:
- The route is done slightly later that day by a new crew, so may not be at your house at the "usual time"
The route will be done the following working day instead with an additional collection crew. If this happens it will be advertised in local media
To help ensure this essential service continues as efficiently as possible:
Please ensure your bags/bins are presented by 7:30am on your collection day. We will not be able to return if they are presented too late
Please ensure your bags/bins are easily accessible and visible to staff (we may have new crews working on some routes who may be unfamiliar with the location of all collection points)
If your bin is not collected please only report this if you are unable to wait until the next scheduled collection
More people will be working from home at this time, please consider where you park your car on collection days to avoid obstructing essy kert access. Please try to park as close to the kerb as possible with wing mirrors folded in
If there are any changes to collections information will be published online and in the local media. Please check before emailing or phoning
Do not put out bulky items for collection by the essy kerts, this will not be collected. Normal household rubbish only
Assisted collections are operating as normal.
Operating at limited level when staffing allows.
