The Shetland Health and Social Care Partnership has been formed as part of the integration of services provided by Shetland Islands Council and NHS Shetland Health Board. The Partnership manage community health and care services, providing a closer partnership between health care, social care and hospital-based services.
Shetland Islands Council and NHS Shetland agreed to formally delegate community health and social care services for adults to a third body, which is the Shetland Integration Joint Board (IJB). The IJB is responsible for the operational management and main decision making for the Shetland Health and Social Care Partnership.
Shetland Health and Social Care Partnership covers:
- Adult Social Work (inc. Adult Social Work, Carers)
- Criminal Justice
- Community Care Resources (eg. Care@Home, Care Homes)
- Adult Services (eg. Learning Disability Services, Additional Support Needs, Respite Services)
- Allied Health Professionals (eg. Occupational Therapy, Podiatry, Dietetics, Orthotics, Physiotherapy, Speech Language Therapy)
- Primary Care (eg. GPs, Optometrists)
- Community Nursing (e.g. District Nursing, General Practice Nursing, Advanced Practice Nursing, Non-Doctor Island Nursing, Specialist Nursing, Intermediate care Team)
- Dental
- Pharmacy and Prescribing
- Mental Health (eg. Mental Health, Substance Misuse, Dementia services, Talking Therapies)
- As well as aspects of Acute services (hospitals) relating to unscheduled care, and services in regards to health improvement.
