Looking for support to start or develop your business or community enterprise?
Shetland Islands Council’s Economic Development Service is continuing to raise awareness of the support available to island businesses and community enterprises through a series of drop in events from 15 to 25 June 2026.
The events are taking place in different locations throughout Shetland, with officers on hand to outline the range of Council services on offer to new and existing organisations, including:
- Free advisory and information services through Business Gateway
- Referrals and signposting to partner agencies
- Helping get businesses 'funder ready' for a range of grants, loans and other finance, be this through direct assistance from the council or other sources.
With the success of the first roadshow in Autumn 2024, further events were held in Spring and Autumn 2025, with a total of 31 individual events throughout Shetland to date. These events have dealt with a number of enquiries from both pre-start and established organisations with a wide range of requests for support. Feedback from the events, and follow up support, has been very positive.
