How to Stand for Election
So I’ve decided to stand – how do I do it?
The Improvement Service has a website dedicated to supporting local councillors in Scotland where you’ll find a wide range of clear, useful information.
If you want an informal chat with someone at the Council, you can contact the Chief Executive by emailing chief.executive@shetland.gov.uk or by calling 01595 744501.

Ahead of the election on 6th May 2027, there will be public notices announcing the deadline for nominations. Information for candidates is available on the Electoral Commission website,
