Council Titles
This map has been prepared to give a general guide to the extent of Shetland Islands Council’s property and land holdings.
It is based on information contained in the original title deeds as either recorded in the Register of Sasines or registered in the Land Register of Scotland. However, as the historical descriptions contained in the deeds (and plans when available) are often imprecise or incomplete, or rendered obsolete by physical changes on the ground, the map can show no more than the Council’s best interpretation of the available data.
No guarantee can be given as to its legal accuracy, nor should it be relied upon as an authoritative statement of ownership for any purpose. It should also be noted that the map is a work in progress and may be amended or corrected as information continues to be collated and examined.
