Level 3 - Public transport

MV Dagalien

From Boxing Day, travel on public transport in Shetland, such as buses, inter-island ferries and flights, should be for essential purposes only.

Following the recent announcement by the Scottish Government that Shetland will move into Level 3 from Boxing Day, anyone using public transport should only do so if their journey is essential.

Reasons for essential travel include employment, education, healthcare and to provide care or support to a vulnerable person. Essential shopping is also permitted.

Festive Timetables are currently in place on inter-island ferries from Thursday 24th December until Wednesday 6th January 2021.  Published timetables for buses and air services will continue to operate for the time being.

The operation of local transport services will continue to be reviewed in line with Scottish Government guidance.
