In response to the increased number of Covid-19 cases in Shetland, service changes have been made to Shetland Library and inter-island Ferry Services.
Shetland Library at Lower Hillhead in Lerwick was due to open today (Tues 29 Nov) but will now remain closed to the public for the rest of this week and next. Bookings for computer use are cancelled, and customers should phone the Library if they urgently require online access, and staff will try to assist. Free Wi-Fi is available outside the building 24 hours a day.
Library books can be ordered using the ‘Connect and Collect’ service by ordering online or by phone, and picked up from the Library. Customers can also use the home delivery service that has been operating since May. New customers can phone the Library if they wish to use this service
On inter-island ferries, cash payments will be suspended with immediate effect. Where contactless payment is available, this will remain in place. Scottish Government guidance for Level Three states that public transport should be used for essential travel only.
Ferry timetables are currently under review and any changes will be published on the Council’s Ferries webpage at www.shetland.gov.uk/ferries
