The Electoral Registration Officer has written to households in Shetland, ahead of the Scottish Parliamentary Elections that will take place on 6th May 2021.
Anyone aged 16 or over that day, resident in Scotland and registered to vote, will be able to vote. Letters have recently been sent to all properties, listing electors who are currently registered to vote and if they have a postal vote in place.
Anyone not included on that letter can register to vote between now and Monday 19th April at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
Anyone registered to vote but not listed as a postal voter can apply to vote by post by visiting www.orkney-shetland-vjb.co.uk and downloading the application form, which must be returned by 5pm on Tuesday 6th April, or sooner.
Ian Leslie, Depute Electoral Registration Officer for Orkney and Shetland, said “This is your opportunity to plan ahead to vote in this year’s Scottish Parliamentary Elections. If you wish to vote by post you must get your application form to our office before the deadline of 6th April.
“If you have any queries about your registration or postal voting please contact our office on 01595 745700 or email ero@shetland.gov.uk”
