All care homes in Shetland will be resuming indoor visiting for up to two visits per resident per week, with up to two designated visitors.

Shetland Care Home Teams have taken significant steps to safeguard care homes, which now support a return to indoor visiting, against a backdrop of recent decreases in community prevalence of Covid-19.

These steps include testing programmes for staff and visitors, infection prevention and control measures, and the use of appropriate PPE, which is supported by the high numbers of those who are most vulnerable in our community having received the vaccine.

Quote from Jo Robinson, Depute Director, Community Health and Social Care:  “This is welcome news, and feels like a huge step forward.  Our teams have been working hard to ensure the safe return of visits to our care homes, and this will certainly go a long way towards supporting the wellbeing of residents, as well as their families and friends.”
