Cullivoe Primary School has just received their fifth prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag Award from environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful.

It recognises the school’s commitment to Learning for Sustainability and is an internationally recognised accreditation for excellence in sustainable education.

Eco-Schools Scotland aims to make environmental awareness and action an intrinsic part of the life and ethos of all schools.  It also provides a framework to engage the wider school community in action and support aligned with the purposes of Curriculum for Excellence and Learning for Sustainability.

James Spalding, Education and Learning Officer with Keep Scotland Beautiful: “I’d like to congratulate Cullivoe Primary School on achieving their fifth Eco-Schools Green Flag and commend the school’s work over the last few years. It’s a joy to read how pupils and the local community have been involved with the Eco-Schools Journey”.

Claire Lawson, Headteacher at Cullivoe Primary School: “This is a fantastic achievement for our school, particularly in light of the challenges of the last year. Our pupils, staff, families and community are committed to keeping up our efforts to learn more about our environment, and take action to improve the world we live in. A huge thank you goes to everyone who has engaged with our work over the past two years.’
