Anyone not yet registered to vote at the forthcoming Scottish Parliament Election on Thursday 6th May has until midnight on Monday 19th April to be added to the Register of Electors.

To register to vote, go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or contact the local Electoral Registration Office for an application form, or any further assistance.

The closing date to apply to vote by post has now passed but an alternative to voting in person is to appoint a proxy - a trusted person to vote on behalf of the elector at their polling station.  The appointed proxy must also be registered to vote.

Proxy vote application forms can be downloaded from www.orkney-shetland-vjb.co.uk or by contacting the Electoral Registration Office for an application form, at 20 Commercial Road, Lerwick ZE1 0LX, telephone 01595 745700 or email ero@shetland.gov.uk

The closing date to appoint a proxy is 5pm on Tuesday 27th April.
