Visitors to care homes in Shetland are being asked not to visit if they are in a household with someone who is isolating.
With positive Covid-19 cases currently in Shetland, anyone thinking of visiting a care home in Shetland is asked to postpone their visit if they are in a household with someone who is isolating. This is also the case if they have been in contact with someone who is isolating, or are otherwise concerned that they may be at risk - unless their visit is considered absolutely essential and based on a risk assessment with the Care Home.
Care homes in Shetland are still open to visitors, with measures in place to ensure the safety of residents, staff and visitors. Some care homes may need to close to visitors if there is increased spread in local areas. Care Home visiting guidance in Shetland and the associated risk factors are assessed and reviewed regularly.
Chair of the Integration Joint Board Emma MacDonald said ” Whilst care home visiting remains possible at this time it is important that everyone plays their part in sticking to good hand hygiene, wearing a mask, and social distancing. We recognise that visiting is really important to all residents so we need to ensure people take a responsible approach and don’t visit if they may be a risk”.
