Shetland Islands Council and NHS Shetland appoint new Director of Community Health and Social Care

Shetland Islands Council and NHS Shetland are pleased to announce that Brian Chittick has been appointed as Director of Community Health and Social Care.

Mr. Chittick will also take up the role of Chief Officer for the Shetland Integration Joint Board – the body established to oversee the integration and delivery of health and social care services in the isles.  The appointment follows a joint recruitment process by both organisations, and Mr. Chittick will take up his new post on 1st August 2021. 

Mr. Chittick has been Interim Director since July 2020, carrying out the full range of duties for the post, although his main focus has been on leading the Shetland COVID response for health and care.  He has worked for NHS Shetland since joining the organisation in 2015 as Senior Dental Officer; prior to that, he had a long career in clinical and medical roles within the Royal Navy.
