Operational note – Local transport safety measures from Mon 9th August

Ferry Fivla at Gutcher

Scotland will move beyond Level 0 on Monday. Baseline safety measures will remain and passengers should continue to follow the rules to protect themselves and others.

The following changes will be made:

  • The ‘correct fare only’ requirement will be lifted, and change will be given on buses and ferries
  • Physical distancing requirements will be lifted.  This means that there will be no capacity constraints (beyond regulatory ones) on bus, ferry and air services within Shetland
  • You must continue to wear a face covering
  • There will be improved ventilation on buses through filtration systems and open windows where possible
  • Enhanced cleaning will continue on all services
  • Contactless payments are available on most mainline bus services, as well as inter-island ferry services and inter-island air services

Planning your journey, and allowing extra time to travel, can help you avoid busier services.  You can check how busy these are via the ZetTrans website.
