The Promote Shetland contract for the next five years has been awarded to digital marketing agency NB Communication Limited.
The contract to ”develop, manage and coordinate a promotional service for Shetland” will start on 01 April 2022 and run until 31 March 2027. NB Communication are the current holders of the Promote Shetland contract which was last awarded in 2017 and which was the subject of a competitive tendering process in late 2021.
The aim of the Promote Shetland service is to build a strong place brand and positive reputation for Shetland as a place to live, work, study, visit and invest. In recent years, promotional messaging has moved more into digital content, with the increasing use of social media, which has been reflected in Promote Shetland’s work.
The Shetland brand has also recently been refreshed under the strapline of “Islands of Opportunity”, promoting an online gateway for forward-looking industries and career opportunities in the isles, alongside more traditional tourism messages.
Alastair Cooper, Chair of the Council’s Development Committee said: “I’m really pleased to see this contract awarded again to local company NB Communication. It’s vital that we continue to positively market Shetland, our distinct identity, and our high quality products and services. To support the future economy of our islands, we must showcase Shetland as a destination to attract people to live, work, study, visit, and invest here.”
