Operational Note – Laxo ferry terminal linkspan works

Laxo ferry terminal

Shetland Islands Council will be carrying out essential maintenance on the linkspan at Laxo ferry terminal over the weekend of 20th to 23rd May 2022.

Works will begin after the 1830 hours ferry from Laxo to Whalsay on Friday 20th May.  From this time, all ferry sailings over the weekend will operate to and from the Vidlin ferry terminal, running to the regular ferry timetable.

Ferry services will resume as normal on Monday 23rd May, with the first scheduled ferry sailing to Laxo from Whalsay at 0710 hours.

This planned timetable of work is weather dependent.

These works form part of the Council’s ongoing programme of linkspan refurbishment, that has also seen previous work at Skerries, Symbister and Vidlin ferry terminals.

All passengers should be aware that there are no designated parking facilities at the Vidlin ferry terminal.

Shetland Islands Council would like to apologise for any inconvenience to passengers.
