Ferry and bus travel changes for Jubilee holiday

There are some changes to local ferry and bus services on Friday 3rd June, which will be a public holiday in Shetland for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Most ferry routes will operate normal timetable service.  However, on Bluemull Sound, crossings between Yell, Unst and Fetlar will operate to a Saturday timetable.  This will also affect the North Isles bus Service 24V, which will depart Lerwick earlier - leaving Tesco supermarket at the earlier time of 1355, and leaving the Viking Bus Station at 1410.

Yell Sound and Whalsay ferry services will run to a normal two-vessel timetable.  However any previous bookings in the system for these two routes will need to be rebooked.  Passengers wishing to travel on Friday 3rd June will need to contact the Booking Office on 01595 745804 to confirm their booking or by email at ferrybooking@shetland.gov.uk

All other public bus and ferry services will operate to the published timetables.

The Dial-a-Ride bus booking line will be unavailable on Friday 3rd June.  Passengers wishing to travel on Saturday 4th June or Monday 6th June should make any bookings by calling the booking line on 01595 745745 by 4pm on Thursday 2nd June.

Shetland Islands Council and ZetTrans would like to apologise to passengers for any inconvenience.
