Ferry Services on Bluemull Sound between Yell, Unst and Fetlar are currently operating at a much reduced capacity due to crew sickness and related absences.
Council staff are working to keep traffic and passengers moving, but there is considerable vehicle congestion today at ferry terminals at Gutcher and Belmont.
To reduce the build-up of vehicle traffic, Shetland Islands Council would ask passengers to consider whether their ferry journeys on Bluemull Sound are essential, until the backlog of vehicles eases.
