Schools’ industrial action - Tues 28 February and Wed 01 March 2023.

Most schools in Shetland will be affected by strike action by members of three teaching unions on Tuesday 28 February and Wednesday 01 March 2023.

Shetland Islands Council has been informed that members of three teaching unions, the Education Institute for Scotland (EIS), the Scottish Secondary Teachers Association (SSTA) and the NASUWT have voted to undertake industrial action on Tuesday 28 February 2023 and Wednesday 01 March 2023.

All Secondary Departments will be closed, and most Primary Schools and Early Learning and Childcare settings will also be closed.    

Shetland Islands Council has today written to parents and carers with details of the situation in their child/children’s school.  The summary for all schools and early learning and childcare settings in Shetland is:
