
Weather is expected to improve today but with poor road conditions in places, some schools will remain closed and there are changes to school transport this morning.
Schools CLOSED today are:
- In Unst - Baltasound Junior High School
- In Yell - Mid Yell Junior High School and Burravoe Primary School.
- In the North Mainland - Brae High School and North Roe, Ollaberry, Urafirth, Mossbank, Nesting and Lunnasting primary schools.
In Yell, Cullivoe Primary School will open today.
For pupils in Burra the bus will not go to Papil but will pick up and turn at Freefield, for Hamnavoe Primary School and Anderson High School.
In Nesting, the Anderson High School bus will start from the shop only.
There will be no school bus through Gulberwick this morning, for Anderson High School and Sound Primary School.
All other schools and early years settings in the West, Central, South Mainland and Whalsay are OPEN, with school transport elsewhere operating as normal.

*** Essy kert update - 0930hrs, Wednesday 15th March ***
With improving weather and road conditions across Shetland, essy kert collections for recycling for household waste and recycling will take place as normal wherever possible today. The only exception is in Bressay, where black bag collections will take place tomorrow (Thursday).
Any black bags missed in the North Mainland recently will be collected next week.
Paper and card recycling collections will be rescheduled for a future date. Our apologies for any inconvenience.
