Due to unforeseen vehicle breakdowns, Council staff have been unable to collect from households in the West Mainland today (Thursday).
Black bag collections in Sandness, Walls and Bixter have not been possible today. This collection will now take place at a later date.
Tomorrow’s collections in Skeld, Aith and Voe will be for household waste in black bags. Recycling collections of paper and cardboard in these areas will be collected at a later date.
After recent disruption to collection schedules caused by wintry weather conditions, Council staff are doing everything they can catch up on missed collections.
Shetland Islands Council would like to apologise to householders for any inconvenience.
