The Convener of Shetland Islands Council has thanked all those involved with the successes of the Tall Ships Races 2023.
Andrea Manson said: “I’d like to thank everyone who has made the Tall Ships Races 2023 such a phenomenal success. Our community has welcomed the ships’ crews, sail trainees and many visitors, and the whole event has been such a wonderful celebration, despite our notoriously variable weather. It’s a fantastic demonstration of the strength of our community that we are again able to organise such an event in Shetland. ”
From 26-29 July 2023, Lerwick was one of five Host Ports in the Tall Ships Races 2023, with guest harbours also at Cullivoe in Yell and Baltasound in Unst. Shetland Islands Council provided event funding to Shetland Tall Ships Ltd, the company established to plan and deliver the Tall Ships Races 2023 visit to Lerwick.
