Shetland Islands Council is aware of oil spillages today on the A970 between the South Nesting junction and Lerwick, which along with today’s rain, has led to slippery patches.
It appears that there are various road stretches affected, over a distance of around 10 miles. Roads staff are currently placing signs and spreading sand on the worst affected locations.
Drivers are asked to exercise caution along the A970, particularly on bends and other areas where signs are place.
