“Once again, we saw a tremendous response from Council staff across all services, with many going above and beyond to do their best for this community – I’d like to thank everyone for putting in the extra time and effort which was often involved.
“It’s impossible to identify everyone, but particular mention must go to our gritter and roads crews, care staff, and those who worked behind the scenes to move people and equipment around the isles in such difficult conditions. We’re also grateful to the Coastguard, SSEN and Viking who greatly assisted with 4x4 vehicles and drivers.
“Local organisations came together once more in support of each other, and the voluntary effort by individuals and groups was fantastic - many thanks to everyone involved.”
