Ferry Services will be carrying out planned essential maintenance on the Lerwick Linkspan which will affect the service from 1900 hours on Friday 11th to 0600 on Monday 14th October.
The maintenance entails major structural works which requires the linkspan to be taken out of use.
During this period we will be operating to an alternative timetable (to follow) as a foot passenger-only service, with access provided via gangway from the vessel to quayside in Lerwick, and via the RORO ramp at the Bressay Ferry Terminal.
Passengers should be aware that the gangway can be steep and there may be a requirement to traverse steep stairs in certain tides.
The planned dates for these works are from 1900 hours on Friday 11th October to 0600 hours on Monday 14th October, weather permitting.
On Friday 11th October, the 1845 will be the last service to take vehicles from the Maryfield Terminal at Bressay to the Lerwick Terminal. The 1900 will be the last service to take vehicles from the Lerwick Terminal to the Maryfield Terminal at Bressay.
After the 1900 sailing, the service between the Bressay Terminal and Lerwick quayside will be foot passenger-only service operating to a restricted timetable (to follow).
There will be no parking available at the Lerwick Terminal.
The regular RORO service will resume to the normal timetable from the Maryfield Terminal, Bressay at 0700 on Monday 14th October.
This is the latest in a series of scheduled works affecting linkspans across the ferry network, with work already completed at Skerries, Vidlin, Laxo, Symbister, Gutcher, Belmont and Bressay.
On behalf of Shetland Islands Council’s Ferry Services we apologise for any inconvenience that these essential works may cause.
