A representative of the National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF) will be in Shetland next month, to meet community groups, charities and Third Sector organisations to discuss funding applications.

Any groups or organisations seeking funding are encouraged to attend evening workshops in Yell or Lerwick, where they will hear a short presentation from Toby Joss, NLCF Funding Officer – Orkney & Shetland, about the Fund’s current and new grant programmes.

The presentation will be followed by 1-to-1 appointments to hear more about any plans for local projects seeking funding and advice on making funding applications.  Appointments are on a first come, first service basis, and are expected to last around 10-15 minutes each.

Events will take place as follows:

  • Monday 13th January, Sellafirth Public Hall, Yell.  Presentation starting at 5.40pm and 1-to-1 appointments available from 6.00pm to 8.00pm.
  • Tuesday 14th January, Islesburgh Community Centre, Lerwick.   Presentation starting at 6.30pm and 1-to-1 appointments available from 7.00pm to 9.00pm.

Toby Joss, NLCF Funding Officer – Orkney & Shetland, said: “I am really looking forward to returning to Shetland to meet with representatives of local groups to share what the National Lottery Community Fund does, and to hear about any project ideas and proposals.   I would encourage any community groups who are thinking about applying to the National Lottery Community Fund to book a 1-to-1 appointment so that I can discuss their project plans in more detail.”

To make an appointment, please contact: Michael Duncan, External Funding Officer at Shetland Islands Council, by email to grantsunit@shetland.gov.uk    Appointments will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Separate meetings with community groups have also been arranged to take place during the visit, through a partnership between Voluntary Action Shetland and Shetland Islands Council.
