Changes to opening times for Living Well Hubs

Changes are being made to the opening hours for Shetland’s three Living Well Hubs in Brae, Scalloway and Bressay.

The Hubs will close over the festive period from this week, and reopen as follows:

  • Brae – every Friday 10am-4pm (from 10th Jan)
  • Scalloway – every second Wednesday 2-4pm (from 8th Jan)
  • Bressay – every second Wednesday 9.15-11.15am (from 8th Jan)

With increased pressure on staff and resources in the Adult Social Work team, and limited uptake of the drop-in facilities at some times, opening hours will be reviewed in the coming months to make sure that the focus is on targeting staffing and resources towards supporting individuals and families as early as possible.  The new drop-in hours are expected to be in place for the next few months while that work goes ahead.

Ruth MacMillan is Executive Manager of Adult Social Work:  “We’ve found the face-to-face nature of our Hubs to be very useful, and we’ll continue to provide that service.   However, our priority is to make sure we’re providing the best service for everyone and targeting our resources where they’re most needed.

“Our focus is always on early intervention, to help folk with any problems at the earliest possible opportunity, and we’re always contactable in an emergency through our Duty Social Worker by calling 01595 744468.

“For those who are looking for information and support, Hub staff can still be contacted by emailing livingwellhub@shetland.gov.uk or phoning 01595 744120.
