Planned maintenance work has now begun on the ferry linkspan in Skerries, which will affect ferry services later in August.
Contractors working on behalf of the Council will refurbish the concrete structure of the linkspan, with this phase of the work expected to begin on Monday 24th August and lasting around five weeks. Works are weather dependent and this may affect the schedule for the works.
During this time there will be no Ro-Ro ferry service for vehicles, and only a foot passenger and a limited lift on/lift off freight service will operate.
Shetland Islands Council would like to apologise to passengers for the disruption to ferry services caused by this essential maintenance work.
Anyone affected by the changes to ferry operations can contact Ferry Services to discuss alternative arrangements on 01595 744200.
