Operational Note – Proposed 40mph speed limit, A970, Voe

Shetland Islands Council is proposing to introduce a speed limit of 40 miles per hour on the A970 road through Voe. 

The effect of this Traffic Regulation Order would be to reduce the current speed limit for motor vehicles from 50 to 40 miles per hour along the A970 road for a distance of approximately 1.2 kilometres through the village.

This order would be made under Section 84(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended. 
 
A copy of the proposed Order together with a map showing the lengths of road affected and the reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected at offices of the Council’s Roads Service, Gremista, Lerwick during normal office hours.  This is also available online
 
Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order must send an objection in writing to:
