As part of Learning Disability Week 16-22 June 2025, members of the Eric Gray Centre have produced a new short film entitled “This Is Me”, which will be screened throughout the week in Mareel
Created by the talented “Film Squad” – a group of young adults from Eric Gray @ Seafield – the film is a heartfelt and honest look into who they are, what they do, and what matters most to them. The group took on the challenge to tell their own stories in their own way, showing not only their creativity and teamwork, but also their hopes, dreams, and sense of pride.

“We are a group of young adults from Eric Gray @ Seafield. We were challenged to make a short film about ourselves.
We wanted to show people who we are and what we do, our hopes and dreams.
We had never done anything like that before, so we asked Eric Gray staff and Marc and Yvonne from Adult Learning to help us get going.
We called our group the ‘Film Squad’.
Together we decided what we wanted to say and how the film would look.
We made a plan, and a storyboard then decided what jobs each of us would do.
We did a lot of the filming ourselves and decided what made the cut.
We worked really hard on our film and are very proud of the result.
We hope you enjoy it too.
Thanks for watching.”
This year’s theme for Learning Disability Week is “Do You See Me?” — a powerful call to recognise and celebrate the voices, talents, and contributions of people with learning disabilities, while also challenging the barriers they continue to face.
In addition to the film screening, there will be an exhibition of photography by Danny Gaffney hosted by the Trailblazers group at the Eric Gray Centre. The exhibition opens on Monday 23rd June from 2-3pm and there will be Tea and Tab Nabs available. All welcome, but please let the Eric Gray Centre know if you plan to attend by calling 01595 745560 in advance.
