Representatives of the National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF) and The Robertson Trust (TRT) will be in Shetland later this month, to discuss their grant funding programmes.

Any community groups, charities, or Third Sector organisations seeking funding are encouraged to attend evening workshops in Brae or Lerwick.  Toby Joss, NLCF Funding Officer – Orkney & Shetland, and Susan Lennartson, TRT Funding Officer will both present details of their respective grant funding programmes.

The presentations from each funding body will be followed by 1-to-1 appointments to discuss plans for local projects seeking funding and offer advice on making funding applications.  Appointments are on a first come, first served basis, and are expected to last around 10-15 minutes each.

Events will take place as follows:

  • Monday 15th September, Brae High School – Presentation starting at 6.30pm and 1-to-1 appointments available from 7pm to 9pm.
  • Tuesday 16th September, Islesburgh Community Centre, Lerwick – Presentation starting at 6.30pm and 1-to-1 appointments available from 7pm to 9pm.

Susan Lennartson, TRT Funding Officer, said: “I’m looking forward to visiting Shetland and meeting our grant holders in person, seeing first-hand the incredible work taking place. As a relational funder, building strong and lasting relationships is at the heart of what we do, and for me, it’s one of my favourite parts of my role.   These visits allow us not only to learn more about the impact of the projects we support, but also to strengthen the connections that help us work together towards preventing and reducing poverty and trauma across Scotland.”

Toby Joss, NLCF Funding Officer – Orkney & Shetland, said: “It is great to be heading back to Shetland. We have a good track record of supporting projects in Shetland, and I look forward to meeting with any local community groups who are thinking of applying for funding or just seeking some advice about National Lottery Community Fund schemes.”

To make an appointment, please contact: Michael Duncan, External Funding Officer or Nicole Sim, Resources Officer at Shetland Islands Council, by email to grantsunit@shetland.gov.uk    Appointments will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

During the visit to Shetland, both national funding bodies will also meet with representatives of local funding bodies as well as separate meetings which have also been arranged with a range of community groups.
