Shetland Islands Council has announced a weather-related delay to planned works to replace the linkspan at Papa Stour ferry terminal, which was due to start on Monday 22nd September.
Due to an adverse weather forecast and sea state for the start of next week, it will not be possible to take the barge with the new linkspan around from Lerwick.
Ferry operations between West Burrafirth and Papa Stour will therefore continue as normal next week, for passengers and vehicles, on pre-booked sailings on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
It is still hoped to carry out these linkspan replacement works this year and Shetland Islands Council will advise of rescheduled dates in due course.
