Ferry Services Update – Unst, Fetlar and Whalsay routes

Geira ferry

There will be timetable changes in the coming weeks to inter-island ferry services on Bluemull Sound, serving Unst and Fetlar, and on the Whalsay routes.

Due to delays with MV Geira currently in dry-dock, ferry services on Bluemull Sound will run to a single vessel operation from Monday 2nd to Thursday 19th February.   The timetable for this period is available on the Council’s website.

Bookings will be available but anyone with prior bookings for this period must rebook, as the Booking Office is unable to move existing bookings due to the change in timetable.

On the Whalsay route, MV Hendra will go to dock on Monday 2nd March.  With MV Fivla unavailable to provide cover, the service will operate to a single vessel timetable from Monday 2nd March to Thursday 12th March.

Bookings will be available on the Whalsay route and the vessel will follow the MV Linga timetable during this period.   It is hoped to be able to add in additional runs using MV Filla.  If this is possible, the timetable will be updated to reflect these changes.

Anyone with prior bookings on the MV Hendra should contact the Booking Office to rebook.

The Booking Office can be contacted on 01595 745804 and is open from 0745hrs to 1800hrs, Monday to Sunday.

Shetland Islands Council would like to apologise for any inconvenience to passengers.
